Connecting with a Purpose - Focus STL Young Friends Event

It’s not your ordinary service project! Get hands-on and then get your barbecue on. Join Connect With St. Louis and several nonprofit organizations doing great work in the St. Louis community for a choose-your-own-adventure service project. This event is aimed at young professionals ages 21-35.

PHASE 1: PICK YOUR PURPOSE (select a service project) - 9 a.m.- noon MEET AT THAT LOCATION AT 9AM. Someone will be in contact to give you the address and parking instructions for the service site.

Here are the service project choices:

Almost Home: Almost Home inspires teenage moms to create better lives for themselves and their children. This service project will be sorting in-kind donations to help prepare of their 1st annual rummage sale.

Kingdom House: Enjoy gardening and light landscaping? Join us at Kingdom House and to prepare its garden for the summer growing season. Kingdom House helps people achieve better lives through holistic programs and services, and you can be a part of their mission through this one day of meaningful volunteering.

Perennial: Perennial is a community workshop and store in St. Louis, MO that offers educational programming in creative reuse to diverse populations and sells creatively repurposed home goods and eco-friendly project supplies. This project will include cleaning, organizing, and prepping materials for upcoming workshops.

Stray Rescue: Be a friend to animals looking for their Forever Home with Stray Rescue. Volunteer activities include dog walking, cleaning, filling Kong toys, etc.

Saint Louis Crisis Nursery: The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery is committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and provides emergency intervention. Volunteer activities include assisting staff in caring for the children -- holding & feeding infants, reading to and playing games with the older children.

St. Patrick Center: St. Patrick Center gives a hand up to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Volunteer project will be an outdoor project with details TBA.

St. Vincent Home for Children: Spend the morning helping out with a field day for youth. You will be coaching as well as leading outdoor activities and sports. St. Vincent Home for Children serves troubled children and their families, predominantly at-risk youth between the ages of 12-19 in North St. Louis County.

THEN PHASE 2: FIND YOUR FUN (BBQ and washers tournament) - noon - 1:30 p.m.

Join us for at Tower Grove Park for Pappy’s BBQ, a washers tournament and a chance to make friends and network with your fellow volunteers immediately following your service project. Meet us at the Old Carriage Pavilion starting at noon.
